The Government has confirmed a major reorganisation of councils across Hampshire:

• The current system of 15 councils will be replaced
• By 5 unitary councils (4 mainland + Isle of Wight)

The new structure:

• North Hampshire – Basingstoke, Hart, Rushmoor
• Mid Hampshire – Winchester, East Hampshire, Test Valley, New Forest
• South West Hampshire – Eastleigh, Southampton
• South East Hampshire – Portsmouth, Havant, Gosport, Fareham
• Isle of Wight (unchanged)

📍 What it means for your area

• Winchester will become part of a new “Mid Hampshire” unitary council
• That new council will take on all services (county + district combined)
• The change is expected to go live around April 2028
